New Diploma in Genealogy Studies at UCC in September 2012

The NUI Diploma in Genealogy Studies at University College Cork, I want to let you know about the new Genealogy Studies diploma course, which will be held at the UCC, in Autumn 2012.. The course – which commences in late September 2012 – will be held on a Tuesday night from 7.30p.m. to 10.00 p.m., with a 30 minute break, and will feature visiting lecturers from UCC and the south-east region in rotation, in the subject areas of genealogy. The course will run, subject to the normal Christmas, Easter and summer holidays, for two academic sessions, finishing in May 2014, with a conferring ceremony at UCC towards the end of that year. The course is continuously assessed, and is especially tailored for adult learners, whether they be in the workplace, retired or self-employed. There is no special requirement, or end of year exam – but rather, a series of essays and field reports, as well as a dissertation on a topic of your choice, relating to your region, village/town or parish, in the following areas: genealogy. We would be grateful if you can pass the word around about this new Diploma.
